Another poem - "Watching"

I sat and watched
From a long way away
As you
Strolled by on your two legs
I watched as a storm blew
Up from the east
Through the dust and the desert
And took your sandals
And your hat.

Thus disarrayed and dishevelled
You walked on
Over dunes and hills
Through forests and waterfalls
I watched
You didn't know I did.

Then, as evening fell
With a sound like shattering glass,
You found your way

With a quiet glance in my direction
You went in the door
You took off your cloak
You closed the door
You sat by the fire, with your slippers and tea
And left me sitting
A long way away

Watching.
