life. and other life.

oh man this is surreal. i am now a bona fide youth leader. scary. i've been given the mentoring/counselling aspect of the leadership - perfect for me, the inquisitive-curious-bossy-mama-stick-my-nose-in-where-it-don't-belong-type, because i always want to hear about everyone's lives and try to help them get it in order (olivia knows all about that, hey? counselling sessions in the art room... lol good times). this has been a long time coming. for a while there i was really really grumpy about it, i was all in an entitlement space. long story. anyways, i got over that, and then it jumped out at me. so i'm all over the moon at the moment, i've even been talking to my first victim - i mean mentoree - this afternoon. hehe. i'm certainly enjoying myself - that is, i'm enjoying the position, not that i'm enjoying the misfortunes/problems/issues of other people. unfortunately, i can't go to the leaders' meeting on saturday, because i'm going to a party. which leads me to my next paragraph.

i've been invited to an expendable characters party. you know, like the red-shirts in star trek, or soldiers, or vampires' victims - people who die fairly early. i happen to be going as a harry potter character - some witch or other who dies at the end of the seventh book during the big fight. i don't even have a name, i'm so unimportant. but i have a great costume. thanks to sanne, the owner of venus&mars - look them up. which leads me to my next paragraph.
sanne gave me five or six giant big bags of fabric scraps - mostly velvets, but some plaids, some small pieces of dupioni silk, some tapestry-type fabric, some chiffon... all kinds of stuff! it was thrilling looking through it. i even used some of it for the costume and for the present for the party as mentioned above. thank you so so much, sanne!

and my mom is still pressuring me to get a job. terry says i should ask god for one to fall in my lap, cos that would be the job that would be most suited to me and my needs right now. but anyhow.

that's life, as it is for me right now.

i sent off a couple of emails to craigslist job offers - one's a 1am-5am janitor job with $19 an hour, and the other's a 10hours/week editor job (telecommuting) in vancouver. so we'll see what comes of that. i might wind up having like three separate part time jobs. won't that be fun. heh. not.

so yeah. that's my day.

i must be crazy.

so after my shower this morning i grabbed the scissors and trimmed my hair. i must be insane. but it actually turned out pretty good. i will admit that my bangs are rather shorter than i'd like. but surprisingly, the back actually looks pretty good, which i'm happy about.

and mom's all demanding that i get myself a job - so i'm going to have to start looking soon. i had this mad idea that i go apply at the metaphysical bookstore down the hill - imagine me in among "orgone generators" and tarot cards and belly-dancing supplies and all kinds of weird books. hah. it would be hilarious. but given their website, it seems that all the people there have some kind of metaphysical qualification - they've got tarot readers and reiki masters and crystal readers and crap like that. so i suspect they wouldn't like me much cos i've got no training of that kind. oh well.
but i don't want to work with food (i can't anyway; haven't got my foodsafe). if i could find an ordinary bookstore, i'd probably be happy. i should see if there're any in the mall or such. or a used bookstore might be fun too.
oh golly. i haven't ever had to do this. i don't want to, either. bah.

i'm in a bit of a contemplative mood tonight, hence the blogging, despite being as pissed off as it's possible to be at facebook's photo uploader on whose account i had to restart the computer once, log off twice, and upload about 25 pictures 5 at a time. argh. waste of time.

anyhow. i suspect the mood is due to either listening to anberlin - who i find very calming and thoughtful - or a serious lack of sleep: and possibly it's due to a combination of both. anyhow.
so, as i said, i've recently been listening to anberlin; and i've tried the goo goo dolls recently too - i'm not sure if i'm a fan of them yet, i have so many of their songs and i don't know the songs at all besides iris, so it's hard to tell if i like them or not.

anberlin i like though. thanks go out to cory isaak for being a fan and pointing me in their direction. you were right, dude, they are good.

we had the beat cafe last night at school, and i read the poem from the last post instead of my notebook - i've lost it somewhere. maybe i left it at school. i also sang iris by the ggd as mentioned above.

i'm also feeling quite proud of myself: i went for a run today during second block at school. it was only my second run ever since grade 10 p.e., so i'm really happy with myself. i hate running, but the exercise feels good. and the first run since grade 10 was also this year, about a month ago. hehe. ^-^; and i have a date with O. for a run on tuesday during second block - don't forget your running clothes, my friend! - and i'll be sure to remember my deodorant this time ^_^

oh and speaking of running and deodorant and such, how's the heat outside? that's right, it's been sunny! can you believe that? after all the rain we had, suddenly we're up at 27-29 degrees! it's awesome! and i was sweating like a pig while i was running. XD

anyways, i'm off for an early bedtime. toodles people. <3

I sat and watched
From a long way away

· i got a snazzy new granny dress to wear to my uncle's wedding. i know that sounds wierd, but trust me, it looks awesome. and it is new; it's from winners. so there. i will post a picture eventually. i just can't do it now. there's only so much time on a sunday night.
· oh yeah and i think i want to start running. and dad don't you dare say i told you so. i wanna try parkour or however you spell it. you know, that free-running thing. the funny thing is, i do that every time i go to the park. we have a park full of awesome trails. and there's another trail place i can go to of which i know of.
· i love abby sciuto from NCIS.
· my tummy is rumbling. i'm going to go see if i can find something to eat.

I wrote this poem for a friend. Then I realized, it's for me, too. I need it just as much as she does.

When I think about you,

yeah. i haven't posted. so bite me. i've been busy. gimme another couple weeks and then i can show you what i've been busy with, and then after that maybe i can post a little more regularly.

so, um, i guess i better go back to the subject of this post.
cameras.
yeah.
i have a digital SLR. very nice camera. it's my baby. literally (and yes, i'm using that word wrong on purpose. trust me, it bothers me too.). the only thing being that the pictures are like 8 megapixels each - making them werry werry yuge (yep, those are real words now. say them phonetically; it might help.). this in turn causes great space use on my computer, slowing everything down. fun. and then i have to burn them onto discs. and that's unpredictable and not very space-efficient. what wouldn't i give for one of them terabyte harddrives - the external ones.
i almost want one of those horrible point and shoots. the little teenager type ones. ew. i say ew because i know what one of the good ones can do. i have one of the good ones. but on the other hand, the smaller files would definitely be useful on occasion. i don't know.

anyways, i have to go to bed. but i'm still alive. and that's all i have to say for now. maybe later i'll come back and caps all the appropriate places - that's my OCD talking - but right now i'm too tired/lazy to do it.
